I was addicted to gambling for most of my life.
Though it’s been almost 6 years since I’ve even thought about gambling, it’s still a hard thing to talk about.
But I decided last year that it’s time I start telling my story and that hopefully this would help others who are struggling with mental health issues.
I also had Attention Deficit Disorder(ADD) and I didn’t know. I gambled to cope because my ADD made me terrified of accomplishing anything.
It was a hard and often very personal journey, but in the end I wouldn’t be who I am today if I hadn’t gone through it.
I want to thank Jessica Moorhouse for inviting me to be on her podcast, having just met me that day, recognizing the importance of talking about mental health issues and how they can lead you to a dark place emotionally and financially.
I want to thank my family and friends for their unconditional support during my years of lapses and relapses. It is very hard to watch someone you love go through something you do not understand. And even harder when they continue you do it, because this isn’t something that can be solved with a few counselling sessions.
